If you are someone who knows me in my real life (or even listens to the podcast every now and again) you know that I am a Broadway baby at heart. I have long held a love for musical theater, and spent much of my high school and college years toiling away in the stage manager’s booth at my local theaters. Once I reached a certain income level, I made it a priority to see as many shows as possible, first with touring productions coming to LA, and then with frequent trips to NYC. I don’t even know how many shows I’ve seen at this point because I honestly can’t get enough! This past weekend, I took myself on a holy-shit-you-got-another-book-deal trip to the Big Apple and I saw four shows while I was there, three new to me and one of my faves. Rather than focusing on books this week, I wanted to share some of my thoughts on the shows because, in a twist of fate, three of the musicals I saw were based on books! Love this journey for Broadway and my new life goal is to have a musical based on one of my books (I might actually die). Here’s what I saw and my honest thoughts! (Side note: as a creative myself, I sometimes find it hard to critique other artists’ work in a public forum, but this isn’t technically public, so these are my totally uncensored thoughts!)
