It's My Birthday!!!
And other life updates
Y’all. WHAT. A. MONTH. Most of you by now probably know that I am in the process of moving. Our eventual (hopeful) landing spot is Edinburgh, Scotland, but in the interim, we are moving from Southern California, where I have lived for my entire life, to New York City (where I have always wanted to live!). In the past two months, we have sold our house, packed up every single thing we want to take with us into a few suitcases, gotten rid of 90% of our belongings, and are currently living with my in-laws (don’t worry, they are lovely people and they have a pool!). We fly to New York at the beginning of August where we will wait to see if our visa gets approved or not (if anyone has interest, I will write a full post about the UK visa process at some point in time because yowza, it’s a doozy). I’m actually writing this post on Tuesday because by the time this hits your inbox, I will be on a well-deserved mini vacation to celebrate my and my husband’s birthdays and our fifteen year wedding anniversary. It will be the first time I have been able to relax in months! And now for the updates you actually care about!
COME AWAY WITH ME: My next rom com, which releases on 3/2/27 is available for request on Net Galley! As usual, I had no idea it was going to be up for request until I saw it as I was scrolling through NG myself. I really, really love this book, but I also am stressed about it finding its readers. It’s quieter than some of my other rom coms, but I think it’s a really good example of how I hope to grow as a writer. Also, I am so obsessed with this cover, I will be framing it because it is a work of art! If you want to treat yourself for my birthday, you can preorder it now!
SOMETHING WICKED PAPERBACK: I don’t think I have shared this news outside of my paid subscribers yet, but Something Wicked is getting a paperback! I was going to sit on this news for a minute because I am putting together a preorder campaign (remember how I said I wasn’t going to do those anymore…lol) and the design isn’t quite ready yet. But I wanted you all to know it is coming your way in October and I am so excited that you will be able to get Something Wicked and What Light Breaks with matching covers. Keep your eye out here and on my IG because the preorder campaign is a good one! If you trust me enough to know the preorder campaign is a good one, then you can preorder from Ripped Bodice right now!
WHAT LIGHT BREAKS: Not gonna lie, this book release feels like it is a million years away, but I know it will be here before you know it. Also, going to be very upfront and vulnerable here: I feel like this book is being set up to fail. And I hate that because I love these two horny idiots more than anything and I want them to have the success they deserve. But with a release date of 12/29, I know it’s going to be difficult for this book to make a splash. Luckily, I have an amazing team from The Book Launch Club working with me to create some really incredible launch incentives. Lots more is coming on that front, but I am getting more and more excited the more details we are nailing down. As with the Something Wicked paperback, incentive info will be coming soon, but preorders will be through Ripped Bodice so if you order from them, you’ll get the goods (and a signed book!)!
WHAT’S NEXT: If you read everything else so far, then you must really be interested in what’s coming next for me (thank you for that!) and unfortunately, that answer is still up in the air. I haven’t written anything in about two months (which is probably the longest I’ve gone without drafting in years) and I’m giving myself until we get to NYC in August to decide what my next focus will be. I have a book out on submission right now that I am excited about, but hasn’t sold yet. I have a rom com I pitched that hasn’t been contracted yet, but that will be super fun to write. And of course, there’s book three in the Idle Reputations series, which I wrote the first chapter of and then had to abandon when moving took over my whole life. So lots of exciting things on the horizon, just unsure which will be next up on the docket.
Thank you all for your continued support, and remember, the best thing you can do for an author on her birthday, is preorder her books or subscribe to her Substack! ;o)
XOXO,
Falon
