Hi friends and happy Monday! We are officially less than a month away from Right on Cue release day, which means it’s time to *cue* (pun intended) all the anxiety! Yay! This is the time in the publishing journey where I start to freak about numbers and sales and if everyone is going to hate my book. It’s a super fun part of the process and I was sort of hoping it would be gone now that we’re dealing with book number three, but not so much!
But one highlight as we creep closer to release day is getting to hold my book for the first time, and I got to do that very thing just a couple of days ago! What’s funny this time around is I haven’t actually gotten my box of author copies, but my publicity team sent me three copies of the book that I have to sign and send back for a very special giveaway (keep your eyes on my Insta because it’s going to be a good one) so I got to hold them and look at them, but now I have to send them back!
Safe to say, I am obsessed with how this book came out. I am so lucky to be in the hands of the incredible team at Putnam who always do such beautiful work, not just with the covers, but with the interior layouts.
I think I’ve talked about this a little bit before, but Right on Cue is a really special book to me. It was the book I turned to when I was editing Just My Type and everything felt helpless. I found so much solace and joy in writing this story, and so when it came time to do the dedication, it only felt right to dedicate it to myself! I have seen a couple of authors do this over the past couple of years and it makes so much sense because we put in so much work to create these book babies.
It’s hard to believe that we’re just a few weeks away from my third book releasing into the world, but here we are again! Despite the anxiety that I know is only going to increase as we get closer to the big day, I am so excited for Right on Cue to make its way to readers, and I am seriously excited for everyone to meet Emmy and Grayson. Maybe someday the anxiety of book release will dissipate, but for now, I’m trying to focus only on the positives (lol). Thank you so much for all of your continued support and for all your kind words, it’s legit what keeps me sane!
